Your move is right around the
corner, and as anxious as you are there are still some
more steps that you have to take in order to make sure
that your move is organized.
Be sure to let your movers know if there are any changes
around your move date or if any of the details that you
reviewed with your moving company during the in-house
survey or phone inventory have changed.
Clarify with your mover if you are going to need any
special or additional services for your move such as
moving a piano or pool table, special packing for art or
antiques and how much of the packing you want your
movers to do - no packing, partial packing or full
packing.
If you are going to require some additional storage for
your household items at your destination, you should
review these options with your moving company as well.
If you are shipping your car(s), you should finalize
this reservation with your car shipping company or your
moving company if they will be handling this for you.
This is a good time to go through any of the final
details related to the car move to make sure you have
everything in order for their arrival to pick you're
your automobile(s).
We recommend that you use this time for a thorough
cleaning and sorting process to identify those items
that you can donate to goodwill or other local
charities. You will probably be surprised at how many
things you have accumulated that have no value to you or
your family but will be wonderful donations to those in
need.
Consider whether you will be able to move any of your
houseplants. Some states prohibit moving houseplants so
you may want to check with your moving company and make
the decision whether to transport the plants or to give
them to friends or neighbors.
This is a good time to get your pets to the veterinarian
and get all the annual shots and health certificates
that you may need. Some states will require proof of up
to date health certificates and rabies inoculations.
Decide how best to transport your pet during your move
and make appropriate arrangements. If you are moving
long distances, you may want to consider some of the
very respected animal moving companies such as Air
Animal or Animal Land.
This is a good time to get your and your family to you
dentist and/or eye doctor to get your routine check ups
done. It may take a while for you to find new family
dentists and doctors in your new city so it can be a
good idea to take care of these things while you are
still close to people you are comfortable with.
If you plan on utilizing outside storage facilities
after your move, you should begin to do your research to
get price quotes and availability. You can quickly and
easily get multiple
storage quotes. Your moving company may be able to
provide you some storage and you can inquire with them
relative to the options that they may be able to offer
you.
While there is still a lot to do, just keep yourself
organized and you will be able to get things in order as
your move day approaches.
